Arrival Logistics

Ensuring a warm welcome is paramount for us. Therefore, we require all inbound students to arrange their flights to arrive at Guarulhos - GRU, Sao Paulo's primary international gateway. Upon arrival, a dedicated member of the Rotary Youth Exchange (RYE) committee or the student's initial host family will be there to greet them. This first encounter is crucial, setting the tone for a supportive and enriching exchange experience. To facilitate this, we maintain clear communication with students about their arrival details, ensuring a smooth transition from their home country to Brazil.

Departure Coordination

As the exchange journey concludes, the departure process is handled with the same care and attention. Inbound students will depart from Guarulhos International Airport, with arrangements made by their host family to ensure a smooth and supportive send-off. This includes transportation to the airport, assistance with check-in procedures if needed, and a heartfelt farewell, marking the end of a memorable stay but the beginning of a lifelong connection with Brazil.

Ongoing Host Family Orientation

To ensure the highest quality hosting experience, we provide all host families with comprehensive annual orientation. This orientation program is meticulously designed to cover essential topics such as youth protection policies, effective communication strategies, and sensitivity to cultural differences. We particularly focus on equipping host families with the knowledge and skills to navigate cultural nuances, fostering a mutually respectful and enriching living situation. Special attention is given to understanding the specific cultural backgrounds of incoming students, ensuring that host families are well-prepared to meet their needs and help them adjust to life in Brazil. Pre-Arrival Online Orientation Programs

For students embarking on their journey to Brazil, our Pre-Arrival Online Orientation Program, offered by Rotary District 4510, exemplifies our commitment to a seamless and informed transition. This program is a cornerstone of our preparatory services, requiring students to engage with an array of video modules before setting foot in Brazil. These modules meticulously cover essential topics such as program rules, district-specific guidelines, disciplinary actions, travel policies, and expectations. Similarly, for Brazilian students preparing to study abroad, our services are equally robust and comprehensive, extending the same level of preparation to the families hosting a foreign exchange student. In addition to student-oriented services, we provide specialized training for the Youth Exchange Officers (YEOs) of Rotary Clubs in our district. Through a series of video programs, YEOs receive guidance on the administration of the exchange program, including hosting arrangements and supporting inbound students. Recognizing that the digital preparation is just the beginning, we supplement the online orientation with an in-person, interactive training session. Within two to three weeks of their arrival, inbound students are warmly invited to participate in our annual Rotary Youth Exchange (RYE) conference. This event serves as a dynamic platform for further orientation, offering a blend of workshops, discussions, and cultural activities.

Hosted in a picturesque farm hotel, equipped with ample amenities and recreational options, the conference is designed to be both educational and enjoyable. It provides a unique opportunity for exchange students to connect, share their experiences, and address any lingering questions or concerns in a supportive, engaging environment. The Rotary District 4510 Exchange Program annually welcomes around 50 students from all over the globe, with approximately 30 participating in our long-term academic program and 20 in our short-term vacation program. Our programs are meticulously designed to immerse participants in Brazil's vibrant culture, showcasing the country's rich regional diversity and iconic tourist destinations. From the lush expanses of the Amazon rainforest and the sun-kissed beaches of the Northeast to the architectural wonders of Brasília and the colorful spectacle of Rio de Janeiro's post-Carnival champions' parade, our exchange students experience the heart and soul of Brazil. Additionally, we offer an exclusive tourism journey to Peru, inviting students to explore the ancient Inca civilization and its stunning landscapes. This comprehensive approach ensures that our exchange students not only receive an outstanding educational experience but also embark on unforgettable journeys that enrich their understanding of South American culture and heritage. Local families are eager to showcase the best of Brazilian culture and hospitality.

What sets our program apart are the cultural trips to some of the country's most stunning tourist destinations. This provides an invaluable opportunity for young individuals from overseas to immerse themselves in the vibrant culture and beauty of Brazil. Participants can spend 4 to 6 weeks living with a host family, matched by age, gender, and interests, facilitating a deep and meaningful cultural exchange. Subsequently, the hosting arrangement is reciprocated, allowing the Brazilian participant to explore the foreign student's country, enriching both parties' understanding of each other's cultures.
