We are committed to making the exchange experience in our district of great value, with much of learning and life growing.
Where are we?
Our district is located in the Midwest region of the interior of the State of São Paulo. This area is heavily industrialized and characterized by its large and highly diversified economy, making it one of the richest regions in Latin America.
The interior of São Paulo stands out for having a good infrastructure, becoming a hub of investment attraction, and has increasingly attracted companies from the capital and other states seeking lower costs, space to grow and a logistical system that favors the production flow, without the chronic traffic jams in the city of São Paulo. Our district has 37 cities, most of them small, and the three largest cities are, Assis (around 105,000 inhabitants), Presidente Prudente (around 231,000 inhabitants), Marília (around 241,000 inhabitants) and Bauru (380.000 inhabitants). The main feature of this region is that it is one of the safest regions in Brazil, with crime rates much lower than cities of similar size.
The interior of São Paulo is responsible for about one quarter of all national scientific production. The region has important Brazilian higher education institutions.
In the ranking of the best universities in the world, the Webometrics Ranking of World Universities classified the University of São Paulo as the best Brazilian university and the 61st best university in the world; the Universidade Estadual Paulista, as the 3rd best Brazilian university and the 102nd best in the world.
With the University of São Paulo placed in front of renowned universities, such as Oxford University and Princeton University, it highlights Brazil among the best in the world - and the two Brazilian universities that were mentioned in the ranking are public state universities located in the interior of São Paulo.
